Divine Fall Handbags

A Guide to the Season’s Most Fashionable Bags and their Cheaper Counterparts.

At The Divine Addiction, we love this time of year! Perfect weather to cozy up near a fireplace, drink delicious hot chocolate, bring out your favorite comfort food recipes, and of course get in gear for the holidays. We fall head over heels for fall weather and fall fashion! Chunky sweaters, warm boots, deep romantic reds, and our personal favorite, handbags! We all know that a show-stopping handbag can be lethal, especially in the perfect color! A great handbag can bring your entire outfit together – or not. So shop wisely! Size, quality, color and functionality are very important. Fashion trends work as a great guide, but always make sure it works for you and your lifestyle first. Here’s our guide to the season’s hottest handbags… and their cheaper counterparts!

What we love about handbags in the fall is that you get an opportunity to play with so many different textures. From embossed leathers and pony hair to ostrich skins and smooth saffiano leathers. Yes, it is important to have a timeless, classic handbag for everyday use, but be sure to have one that’s a little daring. Textured handbags make great signature pieces. For example, on those days when you wear all black and need a little dimension. Having a color that pops is a great idea, but a handbag with multiple textures will give the entire look depth. When in doubt, less is more; small and subtle details can go a long way.

Crossbody bags are simply amazing! Especially if you are a mom, student, or always on the go. The crossbody style is definitely a go to when you want functionality. Be mindful of the strap size of the bag to be sure it will fit comfortably. Crossbody bags are also a great alternative if you want to carry something barely there and dainty. This is where it gets fun! Trending for fall are small faux fur or animal skin textured bags with beautiful chain style shoulder straps. Another great feature about the small cross body bag is that most of them can be transformed into a great evening clutch! They are perfect for a night out with the ladies or even an amusement park! Because of the size, its strictly made to carry the bare necessities.

Having fun with color can really make a gloomy, chilly fall day seem brighter than ever! The fall color spectrum is quite limitless. Romantic deep reds and blues, you’d be surprised at what pairs make stunning combinations. If a staple of yours is the color white for example, opt for ivory, creams, and light nude colors instead. Experiment with bold burgundy’s! Oxblood and eggplant are a must this season. Wine colors are regal and timeless. Want to try something a little different?! Metallic blacks and deep greys look amazing with texture! You may even want to find a top handle handbag in your favorite fall color and, build your new wardrobe around it.

Choosing the right sized handbag can sometimes be tricky. The perfect bag is completely based on your personal preference. Try to stay away from bags that will collect clutter. A good way to ruin a beautiful handbag is to over-stuff it; that causes the bag to lose its shape and wear on the handles or straps. If you love carrying everything with you, purchase a handbag that will stand up to that challenge. A ladies handbag should be worn effortlessly. It shouldn’t feel like you are carrying luggage. Play with different sizes. For larger handbags, always make sure it’s accompanied with a pair of shoulder straps. For smaller ones, top handle(s) and a crossbody strap are more comfortable. Or ditch all the straps and hit the clutch! Clutch bags aren’t just for special occasions, you can absolutely wear a clutch for daytime errands too!
