Braised Red Cabbage

As featured in Star Magazine, this is one of our favorite dishes at The Divine Addiction. Colorful, tangy, rich and bursting with holiday flavor, Executive Chef Francis Dimitrius gives us the perfect side dish to any festive gathering. Enjoy!

1 head Red Cabbage, shredded/julienned

½ cup Cranberries

2 shallots, thinly sliced

¼ tsp cloves

¼ tsp cinnamon

½ cup Red Wine Vinegar

½ cup brown sugar

¼ cup Water

Salt and pepper to taste


  1. In a non-stick pot, lightly coated with oil, sauté the cabbage, shallots, cranberries, and spices for 2 minutes.
  2. Add the vinegar, water and brown sugar and bring to a boil.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and stir occasionally for about 30 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and season with salt and pepper.
