The Ampersand Hotel, London

Overlooking London’s posh South Kensington neighborhood is The Ampersand Hotel, an Edwardian multi-story townhouse filled with touches of modern luxury. Set blocks away from countless gardens, museums, designer shopping, and the Underground system, the Ampersand is perfectly located to experience London for both newcomers and seasoned travelers.

With award-winning interior décor that manages to be refreshingly eccentric and classic at the same time and the excellent service that is pleasantly warm and readily available, The Ampersand is one of our favorite places to stay. However, perhaps the most outstanding aspect of the hotel, is the value that guests receive. In one of the world’s most notoriously expensive cities, rates start at just under £200 per night, a relative steal when compared to the nearby boutiques of similar quality priced well above £300.

Rooms are furnished lavishly and the attention to detail does not go unnoticed.  Every corner brings a new delight, from the newest technologies to the most luxurious of fixings.  Soft lighting accentuates the romantic tones of linens and upholstery. The bedding is plush yet firm. The bathrooms and closets are stocked with the finest toiletries and accessories. It’s hard not to feel spoiled by The Ampersand’s trimmings.

A duo of dining options is available to guests, either at the upstairs Drawing Room or at the lower-level Apero restaurant and bar. Offerings at both range from traditional English high-tea service to eclectic continental delicacies and they certainly do not disappoint. The Drawing Room is bright and cheery, making it an excellent place to begin the day or settle after a long afternoon stroll. Apero’s small plates, craft cocktails, and extensive wine cellar offerings entice diners as they sit back and socialize. Even in-room service is stellar, with 24-hour accessibility and very brief wait times.

Combining the highest standards of quality, service, and décor, within an agreeable price range, The Ampersand Hotel of London is one of the newest hotels to receive The Divine Addiction’s seal of approval as a “Jetset Favorite,”… and yes, we’re addicted!
