Love of another starts with love of one’s self so, this Valentine’s Day, why not do something special for little old you? Forget date night, it’s time to pamper yourself for a change. And no worries, even if you’re short on cash for the spa, there are still countless ways for you to indulge. Here are three simple home remedies, that will leave you looking and feeling, simply divine!
Feed Your Face
Take care of your skin with this all-natural, homemade, facial masque.
What you’ll need
1 Egg
¼ cup almonds
1 cup sliced strawberries
2 tsp Baking Soda
1 tbsp organic honey
1 tbsp plain unflavored yogurt (with active cultures)
Directions: Start by blending these ingredients in a food processor to create a smooth paste that can stick to your face. Next, tie back your hair, and gently apply the mixture to your freshly washed face. Wait ten minutes and allow the mixture to sink into your skin. Rinse with warm water and gently pat dry.
Baby Your Body
Make sure your body is primed and perfect with this all-natural, homemade body scrub!
What you’ll need
1/2 cup of jojoba or coconut oil
3 tablespoons of lemon juice
2 cups brown sugar
Essential Oil – just a couple of drops will do (the scent of your choice!)
Directions: Start by mixing these ingredients together using a wooden spoon (add more oil if you prefer a runnier scrub). Next, turn on your shower’s hot water, and allow steam to build up. Stand in the steam and apply the scrub mixture using soft, gentle, circular motions. After every inch of your body has finally been covered, step into cool or warm water and rinse the scrub off. If possible, let your body air dry and apply moisturizer right after.
Help Your Hair
Want flowing, silky locks? An all-natural, homemade masque for your hair is the perfect way to start!
What you’ll need
2 tablespoons of jojoba oil (extremely moisturizing, jojoba oil is the one natural oil found to be closest to our own natural “sebum”).
Half an avocado (for moisture and shine).
One egg yolk (hair needs protein, too).
And, for the rinse: one cup of room temperature beer (beer made with true hops is better).
Plastic Wrap or Warm Moist Hair Towel
Directions: Start by mashing all these ingredients together and setting them aside in a small bowl. Proceed by washing your hair as normal using shampoo and then gently towel dry. Next, apply the masque to your hair using a comb. Pile your hair on top of your head and wrap it up using a plastic wrap or heated, moist towel. Leave the masque on for 20 minutes. Rinse with room temperature beer. For longer hair you may need to use a second bottle. Finish by giving your hair another rinse with cool water to remove masque residue – it can be quite goopy!
Relax Your Mind
After pampering your face, body, and hair, we suggest ending the night with an indulgent, candlelit bath. Sit back, relax and enjoy the evening! Here are three simple steps how:
Low Lighting. First, start by dimming the lights and using one of these aromatherapy candles to set just the right mood.
Soap Bubbles. Next, fill the tub with one of these Bubble Baths:
Celebratory Bubbles. Lastly, relax as you sip on a glass of Champagne, wine, or your cocktail of choice!
